My name is Justin Carpenter and I am a part-time analog photographer. I shoot a little of everything but I specialize in capturing dynamic moments both at events and on the street. Everything you see is scanned from film negatives taken with a multitude of vintage cameras from 35 mm to large format.

What began as an exercise in delayed gratification to offset a fast-paced professional life has become a passion. I find that the limitations of film spur creativity and allow for more engagement with a scene or moment while delivering a rich color palette. I do my best to edit my work minimally, limiting myself to edits that would still be possible in the pre-digital era. I believe imperfections ground us in a world increasingly dominated by the uncanny, curated worlds of social media and artificial intelligence. Such blemishes should be embraced, rather than avoided. They are what make us human.
